1-year guarantee

Although each Makita product has been thoroughly inspected before they even leave the factory, without a guarantee, Makita cannot promise that a defect won’t occur after opening your parcel. After all, your items go through a heck of a journey to get from factory to door.

That is why we provide an automatic, supplementary 1-year guarantee on your Makita tools from the date of purchase, so that we (and they) can fully guarantee your product will be free of defects in the first year.

If you develop a fault within this time period, you can do either of the following to rectify it:

  1. Contact UK Planet Tools at +44 (0) 203 3972367 and we will assess the problem and provide you with a refund or replacement if applicable. 
  2. Contact Makita’s Aftersales team at 01908 211678 or email servtech@makitauk.com and they will be able to arrange for you to send the item to Makita UK Milton Keynes, where they can fix or replace your item free of charge (subject to inspection).
  3. Send the item freight prepaid in its complete packaging to an approved Makita Area Service Agent (find your nearest one here: https://makitauk.com/dealer-locator).

Unlike many retailers, there is no 30 day period wherein you have to contact us if there’s a fault. You can contact us any time within the year and one of our friendly customer service agents will be able to assist you.

Although, we would always advise you to contact Makita directly if you can, as they will be more likely to have all the spare parts to fix your item.

What does this warranty cover?

This guarantee covers faults in both workmanship and materials caused by the manufacturer. For instance, if you receive a Makita Angle Grinder that says it uses X-Lock technology but the X-Lock button does not work, this will be eligible for repair.

However, like any warranty, there have to be limits in place to what can be covered. 

Makita states any of the following to be outside of warranty:

  • Repairs have been made or attempted by others.
  • Repairs are required because of normal wear and tear.
  • The tool has been abused, misused or improperly maintained.
  • Alterations have been made to the tool.
  • Non-genuine or recommended parts or accessories are fitted to the tool(s).

The warranty also excludes chucks, power leads, service items, filters, and any cleaning of the product. It does not affect your statutory rights.

3-year guarantee

The 3-year guarantee is exclusive to those who have registered their product with MyMakita within the first 30 days of purchase. It works as a free 2-year extension to your 1-year guarantee.

All Makita customers can check if their product is eligible by registering at https://makitauk.com/service-web-login (click ‘Create an Account’). 

If your product is eligible and you develop a fault after 1-year, please do one of the following:

  1. Contact Makita’s Aftersales team at 01908 211678 or email servtech@makitauk.com and they will be able to arrange for you to send the item to Makita UK Milton Keynes, where they can fix or replace your item free of charge (subject to inspection).
  2. Send the item freight prepaid in its complete packaging to an approved Makita Area Service Agent (find your nearest one here: https://makitauk.com/dealer-locator).

Please bring along your 3-year registration certificate and original sales receipt to validate your claim. It is recommended not to contact UK Planet Tools for repairs after the 1-year has passed, as your guarantee is directly through Makita.

What does this warranty cover?

Similar to the 1-year guarantee, this warranty covers faults in both workmanship and materials caused by the manufacturer, and is subject to the same bullet-pointed limitations.

The product must, however, be CE Certified (with the exception of Batteries, Battery Chargers, Accessories, Petrol Powered Products, Production Tools and Air Tools and Compressors) and have been purchased on or after 1st July 2012 to be eligible for a 2-year extension.

DeWalt

1-year guarantee

The 1-year guarantee is fixed as soon as you make payment of any DeWalt product through UK Planet Tools. It is completely free and works as a supplement to your order.

If you develop a fault with your product within this guarantee, you have three options:

What does this warranty cover?

This guarantee covers faulty items which have been damaged due to manufacturer issues. For example, if your DeWalt Combi Drill comes out of the box and does not switch on, this would be a manufacturer problem, and would be covered.

If, however, you break the item due to negligence, such as by dropping it at a height, DeWalt would not be able to cover this. They will also not cover any damages made as a result of repairs made or attempted by anyone who is not an authorised repair agent.

3-year guarantee

Unlike the 1-year guarantee, the 3-year guarantee is not an immediate accessory to your order, but works as an extension to your existing warranty. 

It is free of charge but you have to register for this yourself, and you must register within 30 days from the date of purchase.

To register your product for an extended 3-year warranty, head over to https://www.dewalt.co.uk/mydewalt to check if your model is eligible. 

If your product is eligible and you develop a fault within this guarantee, you have only two options:

  1. Contact DeWalt’s Aftersales team at 0330 808 0719 and they will be able to fix or replace your item free of charge.

Please try not to contact UK Planet Tools after the 1-year guarantee has ended, as your extension will be through DeWalt.

What does this warranty cover?

Much like the 1-year guarantee, this warranty covers faulty items which have been damaged due to manufacturer issues, but does not cover breakages due to negligence or repairs made by anyone who is not an authorised repair agent.

It does not, however, cover nail guns, so it is imperative that you check the eligibility of the product before relying on a guarantee extension.

1-year guarantee

Any Milwaukee power tool purchased through UK Planet Tools comes with a 1-year guarantee, setting the bar for excellence. This is completely free to ensure your needs and expectations are met.

What does this warranty cover?

Your warranty covers faults in both workmanship and materials caused by the manufacturer. For example, an electrical fault that has occurred suddenly and without misuse would be considered eligible for repair.

There are, however, limitations to this warranty. For instance, incidental or consequential damages cannot be covered. Items that have been misused, used contrary to the instruction manual, or incorrectly connected will not be covered; and so forth.

  • Any damage to the product that is the result of improper maintenance.
  • Any product that has been altered or modified.
  • Any product where original identification (trade mark, serial number) markings have been defaced, altered, or removed.
  • Any damage caused by non-observance of the instruction manual.
  • Any non-CE certified product.
  • Any product which has been attempted to be repaired by a non-qualified professional or without prior authorisation by Techtronic Industries.
  • Any product connected to an improper power supply (amps, voltage, frequency).
  • Any damage caused by external influences (water, chemical, physical, shocks) or foreign substances.
  • Normal wear and tear of spare parts.
  • Inappropriate use, overloading of the tool.
  • Use of non-approved accessories or parts.
  • Power tool accessories provided with the tool or purchased separately. Such exclusions including but not limited to screw driver bits, drill bits, abrasive discs, sand paper and blades, lateral guide.
  • Components (parts and accessories) subject to natural wear and tear, including but not limited to service & maintenance kits, carbon brushes, bearings, chuck, SDS drill bit attachment or reception, power cord, auxiliary handle, transport carry case, sanding plate, dust bag, dust exhaust tube, felt washers, impact wrench pins & springs, etc.

3-year guarantee

As you are likely aware, any fixtures you may have had to your tools during your 1-year guarantee are free of charge but do not constitute an extension.

Extensions of up to 3 years (which would be a 2-year extension to the standard 1-year) can only be obtained by registering your tool at https://warranty.milwaukeetool.eu/en-gb/landing. This is also free to do, but must be done within 30 days of your purchase date.

If your product is eligible and you develop a fault after 1-year, please do one of the following:

  2. What does this warranty cover?

This covers everything the 1-year cover provides, although there are some rules as to what can be eligible for extension.

M28 rechargeable battery packs, battery chargers and accessories are not included in the warranty extension, and MX FUEL tools and batteries can only be extended by one extra year (making it a 2-year guarantee). In fact, REDLITHIUM batteries in general (which includes MX FUEL) can only be extended by one year.

All warranty extensions are subject to registering with Milwaukee within 30 days of purchase.

1-year guarantee

If you buy a Bosch product at UK Planet Tools, you will immediately be protected for up to one year. This is free of charge and is supplemented with your order.

  • Defects on the Tool caused by the use of accessories and supplementary or replacement parts that are not Bosch original parts.
  • Tools that have been modified or added to, and tools that have been fully or partially dismantled.
  • Slight deviations from the specified quality that do not affect the value and functionality of the Tool.

3-year guarantee

If a year is not enough time for you to be covered by Bosch’s warranty, you can always extend this by up to 2 years (making it a total of 3 years).

Extensions can be applied for by using Bosch’s PRO360 online service portal. Here, you can open an account and register your items to extend their warranties. 

You will even receive a certificate on PRO360, which you can download to prove you have extended your warranty in the event of a claim. The date on this certificate must be consistent with your receipt date to be regarded as ‘proof’.

Minus some eligibility criteria, this warranty covers most of the ground the 1-year guarantee covers. To clarify, it should cover all professional power tools, measuring tools, and rechargeable batteries from Bosch.

Products that are excluded in the guarantee include high-frequency tools, industrial cordless screwdrivers, pneumatic tools, and corresponding accessories.

All warranty extensions are subject to registering your products on PRO360 within four weeks of purchase.

This cover is often preferable for those who purchase power tools, due to the cost and likelihood of developing a technical fault.

Many people opt for the 3-year warranty for extra peace of mind, as it is completely free and easy to do.

Any extensions of your automatic 1-year guarantee must be achieved by registering your product with MyStanley.

What does this warranty cover?

This warranty covers FatMax power tools which have been registered after 4 weeks of purchase. It carries the same limitations as the 1-year guarantee.
